Week One = Done!
As the title of this blog states, week one = done (my sad attempt at a rhyme)! My first week with BC LNG Alliance was the best first week that I could have asked for! My work is super interesting and the time goes by extremely quickly. Sometimes, dare I say it, I forget that I am working at all! My boss let us go early on the Friday so my weekend was extra long!
On Saturday it was my mom's birthday! We talked for a bit while she played in the garden and then she had to go celebrate her big day (and Cinco de Mayo!!) I went shopping alone for the first time in my life. I was too scared to actually shop alone so my lovely friend Chels talked to me on the phone the whole time. As the bargain seeker that I am, I bought two fancy dress shirts for under $60 (shout out to the Hudson's Bay). I proceeded to go to an Indigo (r.i.p Chapters) and purchased a book that I had intentions of reading in the park that afternoon, but I got distracted by the puppies. My night came to an end as I FaceTimed a few of my pals from back home.
Today, I decided to crack my book at the beach! Even though I put sunscreen on (I promise I did mom), my left arm, right foot and kneecaps got really badly burnt. I read "Tomboy Survival Guide" by Ivan Coyote. It is a memoir by Ivan, a storyteller and anti-bullying advocate who writes about their experiences regarding gender, bullying and being a tomboy! I became so engulfed by the book that I actually finished it! This was the first leisure reading that I had done in a long time, and it was nice to read for pleasure instead of for that G.P.A. The book is super hilarious and heartwarming and I definitely would suggest it. When I got back to my room, I was able to FaceTime my family, who were all at my home for my grandpa Bob's birthday (happy 70th!!) It was really nice to be able to see everyone, even though the wifi delayed our conversation by a few seconds!
Overall, my first week with BC LNG Alliance was a 11/10, and I cannot wait to continue to work for them this summer!
A slightly sun crisped,
BC
